Team History
Scuderia Ferrari was founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929 initially to race Alfa Romeos, then began building their own cars in 1947. They are the oldest and most continuous team in F1 history, having competed in every season since the championship began in 1950. They debuted at the 1950 Monaco Grand Prix™. Ferrari has accumulated countless records and championships that define the team as the most successful in F1.
Team Ownership
Ferrari's road car company took over the racing team in the late 1960s, which brought crucial manufacturing capacity. Fiat became a 50% owner in 1969, then boosted its stake to 90% in 1988 which gave Ferrari financial stability. Fiat Chrysler retained control until Ferrari was spun off as an independent public company in 2016, currently majority-owned by Exor N.V. Current Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna took over leadership in 2021. Key historic figures include founder Enzo Ferrari, team managers Mattia Binotto and Jean Todt, and Fiat chairman Luca di Montezemolo.
Team Name and Identity
The team is named after its founder, Enzo Ferrari. The famous Prancing Horse logo dates back to an Italian flying ace in WWI who painted it on his planes. Enzo Ferrari adopted this as the logo in the 1920s as a symbol of Italian racing power. The iconic Ferrari red color first appeared on an Alfa Romeo that Enzo Ferrari raced at the 1911 Targa Florio; red was the Italian racing color in the early 20th century.
Technical Partnerships
Ferrari is unique in that they design, develop, and build the entire car including the chassis and power units in-house. Their key technical partnerships are with Shell for fuels and lubricants, Ray-Ban for team apparel, Alfa Romeo for branding, and HMAC for additive manufacturing. The synergies between road cars and Formula 1 technology development are a major advantage.
Driver Lineup
Ferrari's drivers are among the most legendary in history, including Tazio Nuvolari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Niki Lauda, Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen, and Sebastian Vettel. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. are their current drivers. Schumacher won 5 straight titles from 2000-2004, capping the team's dominant era.
Team Achievements
No team can match Ferrari's success with 16 Constructor Championships™ and 15 Driver Championships™. They hold the records for most wins (243), pole positions (238), and podium finishes (818) as well as fastest laps. 2022 marked their 1000th Grand Prix entry as the longest-tenured team.
Team Culture and Values
Ferrari's racing culture encapsulates Italian passion. The legions of notoriously fanatical Tifosi provide a unique kind of support and pressure. There is an emphasis on winning at all costs along with drivers serving the interests of the team first and foremost. The iconic Ferrari brand power translates globally.
Team Headquarters and Facilities
Ferrari is based in Maranello, Italy at Scuderia Ferrari's long-standing facilities including the Fiorano test track. All operations from design to manufacturing to testing are housed here. The centralized base and vertical integration support Ferrari's leading capabilities.
Rivalries
Historic rivalries include McLaren in the late 1970s, Williams in the 1980s and 1990s, and more recently Red Bull and Mercedes as the preeminent hybrid-era powers. The battles with McLaren's Senna and Prost and Williams' Mansell and Prost are legendary. The Schumacher years also saw famous duels for supremacy.
Technical Innovations
Ferrari pioneered innovations like paddle shift gearboxes (1989), active suspension (1990), and the hybrid kinetic energy recovery system (2014). Their cutting-edge road car-to-F1 technology transfer continues to accelerate development.
Sponsorships and Partnerships
Long-term major sponsors include Shell, Ray-Ban, UPS, Kaspersky Lab, and Hublot. Philip Morris sponsorship lasted from 1984-2010. These deals provide over $100 million annually.
Season-by-Season Performance
Ferrari dominated from 2000-2004 winning 5 straight Constructor's titles. Recent years were leaner with no titles since 2008 as Red Bull and Mercedes dominated. They continue fighting back, finishing 2nd in the Constructors Championship™ in 2019 and 2022. With only 3 podiums and one win Ferrari (406 points) placed 3rd with only 3 points behind Mercedes (409 points).
Team Principal and Management
Mattia Binotto has been Team Principal from 2019-2022, making Frédéric Vasseur the current Team Principal since 2023. CEO Benedetto Vigna heads Ferrari's overall company. Other key leaders include Enrico Cardile (Sporting Director) and Laurent Mekies (Racing Director).

Ferrari's millions of die-hard Tifosi make up one of the largest and most passionate fan bases globally. The team enjoys fervent home support in Italy along with fans worldwide enamored by Ferrari's racing legacy.
Future Prospects
