Team History
The Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team, formerly known as Racing Point, Force India, and Jordan Grand Prix, has a rich history in Formula 1™. The team was founded by Eddie Jordan in 1991 as Jordan Grand Prix. Jordan competed in Formula 1™ for many years before being taken over by the Midland Group in 2005, becoming Midland F1 Racing and then Spyker F1.
In 2008, Indian businessman Vijay Mallya led a consortium that bought the team, renaming it Force India. In 2018, a consortium led by Lawrence Stroll rebranded it as Racing Point. In 2021, the team adopted the iconic Aston Martin name, marking its return to Formula 1™ after a 61-year absence.
